Milkstrip
Background
Breast milk provides essential nutrients for infant development, making its freshness and safety critical. Milkstrip, an Israeli startup, had developed innovative biochemical sensors capable of detecting the expiration and fat content of stored breast milk. However, to turn this cutting-edge technology into a marketable product, they required the development of complex algorithms and a digital mobile application that could deliver real-time, reliable results to consumers.
Challenge
Milkstrip’s sensors could detect changes in milk composition, but the startup needed a partner to develop an efficient algorithm to determine if the milk was still fresh. The challenge was to create a solution that could accurately interpret sensor data through color matching, and deliver results in seconds via a mobile app. Additionally, the system needed to determine fat content as part of the product's functionality.
Solution
Vidatt collaborated with Milkstrip to develop an AI-driven algorithm capable of interpreting the sensor data. The solution involved:
Color Matching Algorithm
Vidatt created a sophisticated algorithm that accurately determines milk freshness by analyzing the color of a biochemical sensor dipped in breast milk, placed on a color reference card. A photo of the strip is taken using the Milkstrip mobile app, which is then uploaded to a cloud server for analysis.
Cloud-Based Analysis
Once uploaded, the program running on the cloud server quickly matches the sensor colors to pre-defined benchmarks using proprietary algorithms. This process delivers results about the milk's expiration status in seconds, making it highly practical for users.
Fat Content Detection
Vidatt extended the system to also analyze the fat content of the milk using similar color-matching principles, providing an additional layer of value for consumers seeking detailed milk composition insights
Our Contribution
Vidatt’s contribution was key to turning a breakthrough biochemical technology into an easy-to-use, consumer-friendly solution, providing peace of mind for parents concerned about the safety of their stored breast milk.
Outcome
The collaboration between Vidatt and Milkstrip resulted in a fully functional, AI-powered mobile application that allows parents to easily check the freshness and fat content of stored breast milk in real time. The seamless integration of hardware (sensors) and software (algorithm and app) transformed Milkstrip’s innovation into a commercially viable product.
